Potato Harvest

Monday 6th September

The pupils from our Gardening Club harvested their prize crop of potatoes and have won the Grow Your Own Potatoes, West of Scotland Award for 2021. This is the second time we have won this award. Well done to all the green fingered Gardening Club members and of course Gardening Granny and her amazing team of volunteers.

Gardening Club - Update

 Gardening Club

Our school gardening club has been unable to resume as yet, due to COVID19 restrictions, however this has not stopped our inter generational volunteers from harvesting a wide selection of flowers, fruits and vegetables.

Spring bulbs

Our spring bulbs have really been enjoying the warmer weather recently. It is a shame we are not at school to see how beautiful and colourful they are. They really brighten up our playground.

CAMEO Club

Pupils from the Gardening Club, shared their gardening knowledge and expertise with members of Houston’s CAMEO Club. They gave a very clear and informative presentation on all the fruit and vegetables they had successfully grown from seed to the harvest stage.

The members were very impressed, especially Mrs Dawson. Afterwards the pupils engaged in gardening word searches and crossword puzzles with the members of the club.

The pupils received a lovely thank you gift for their efforts.
